Halloween Field Report

In short: A busy night at Northbridge. Escape This has promoted The Possession for Halloween, bucks and hens nights, birthdays and date nights. Teams often come as ghost hunters, exorcists or survivors of the first visit, in closed shoes.

Tuesday, 7.00 pm. Halloween. Peak conditions. Arrived early in full kit, the long coat and the hat, and was at once complimented on my costume by a hens’ party. I said I was not in costume. They said that was what made it so good.

Inventory of costumes entering The Possession tonight: four exorcists, one with a convincing collar and an unconvincing moustache. Two ghost hunters, both better equipped than I am, which I resented. A bucks’ party dressed as survivors of the first room, bandaged and limping before they had gone in.

Every player wore closed shoes. I noted this because staff checked. The bride-to-be had to swap her sandals for a friend’s spare sneakers, which she said ruined the whole look. She screamed beautifully all the same.

Scream count from the upstairs windows: a new record. Noreen says I should not count screams. I say somebody has to.

FAQ

What this file answers

Can we turn up to The Possession in costume?

Yes, and plenty of teams do. For The Possession, think ghost hunters, exorcists or shaken survivors of the first visit, but wear closed shoes and something easy to move in. In Melbourne, choose clothes you don’t mind crawling in.
