Friday, 8.20 pm. A question has troubled me for some years. In the story, these teams escaped the house once. Ten years later they come back. Why?
I asked tonight’s teams. Theories collected: ‘To prove it really happened.’ ‘Because we felt sorry for her.’ ‘Because my brother booked it.’ ‘Because we lost last time and I don’t let things go.’ The last one I respected.
The Perth telling gives the building a name, Atkins House, and calls it the most haunted house in Perth, with twelve deaths in a hundred and twenty-five years. I asked staff for the names of the twelve. Staff said it was a story. I said so is everything, if you aren’t paying attention.
Personal note. I have watched this house for three and a half years and not once gone inside. Noreen asked me tonight why I keep coming back. I said for science. She said, ‘Or doubt. Or pity.’ I have asked her to stop reading my files.
